At 3 Dogs and A Cat, we are here to help.  Below are some of the more FAQ’s you may have about or services or about pet grooming in general.  If you have any other questions on Pittsburgh pet grooming, or comment on how we can better serve you, please contact us at 412-364-1401 or Email Us today.

Absolutely.  Saturdays and around the holidays are particularly busy times of year and often require booking several weeks in advance.  A great practice to get into would be to book your next appointment when you are leaving that way you can get a time that works best for your schedule.
Please allow 24 hours in advance for cancellations.  Keep in mind that we are by appointment and that we are saving space in our day to take care of your pet.  We understand that life happens and sometimes appointments have to be canceled, so please call us as soon as you know you can’t make it and we will do our best to accommodate your situation. Our official policy is as follows:

If your cancellation is not within 24 hours, a strike will go against your account.  Once you reach two strikes an additional fee of $10 will be added to your groom and you will be required to prepay for your grooming services.

All pets must be on a leash or in an appropriate carrier.  We will not take any animals unless they are on a leash/in a carrier.  If you do not bring your pet on a leash/carrier, a leash will be provided for you at your own additional cost.  We are in a small shopping center and would hate for anything to happen to your special pet while coming and going into the vehicle.  It is also state law to keep your pet on a leash at all times!
Please bring an up to date record of vaccinations.  We cannot groom your pet without an up to date shot record, this is for both the safety of our groomers and other customer’s pets.
Typically, 3-4 hours for a full groom. You will bring in your pet in the morning and we will call you when they are completed. We will work as hard as we can to get your pet done in a timely manner, however depending on how busy the day is and what condition your pet is in, it can take more or less time. This gives you time to run around and get several errands done while we pamper your pet!
All full service grooms START at $40 (excluding puppy specials). HOWEVER, depending on size, breed, temperament of pet and condition of coat, your pets groom may cost more. There are several factors that go into pricing and there is no way to give prices over the phone or online until we actually see the condition of your pet and how he/she is going to react to the grooming process.
This is going to depend on many factors like breed of dog, how long you would like your pets coat to be and age of the dog. Short hair dogs like Boxers and Dobermans do not need to come in very often. Once every couple of months would be fine. Dogs like Yorkies, Cocker Spaniels and any form of “Doodle” are high maintenance and require visits every 4-8 weeks depending on the desired length of coat. Puppies should be brought in as soon as they have had their final set of shots. We STRONGLY recommend that you bring your puppy in often (every 1-2 months) that way they can get used to the grooming process. This will drastically reduce anxiety in your pet and save you money on extra charges due to behavior issues.
Depending on the breed of your pet and how long you want to keep him/her will dictate how often you will have to comb out your pet. What we see happening quit often is people want a certain length but don’t realize that keeping that length requires combing out their pet several times a week. We as groomers can only pull and tug on matted fur for so long before it becomes of decision of what is best for your pet. Combing out matted fur is painful to your pet and often times the fur that is left is damaged. A shave down allows for a fresh start and allows you to get into the practice of combing, that way we can give you that cute fluffy look. You must be dedicated to combing your pet to get the look you desire.
You bet! Why should dogs be the only ones who get pampered? We offer a variety of services to cats including nail trim, ear cleaning, bath and shave down/lion cut.
